Bright Smiles, Done Right

In-Office and Take-Home Whitening

Store-bought whitening strips and pens can help a little, but nothing compares to professional whitening supervised by a dentist. At Inland Family Dental, we offer two proven options: fast in-office treatment for dramatic same-day results, and custom take-home trays for gradual, equally effective brightening on your own schedule.

Our in-office whitening uses a professional-strength, dentist-applied gel activated in short cycles over about an hour, similar in concept to Zoom-style whitening systems. Most patients leave with teeth several shades brighter than when they walked in, with minimal sensitivity thanks to protective gel we apply to your gums beforehand.

For patients who prefer to whiten at their own pace, we take precise impressions to create custom-fit trays made specifically for your teeth — unlike the one-size-fits-all trays sold in stores, ours seal tightly against your gumline so the whitening gel stays exactly where it belongs. You wear them for a set time each day over one to two weeks, and the trays are yours to keep for quick touch-ups down the road.

Before any whitening treatment, we check your enamel and existing dental work to make sure whitening is a good fit and to set realistic expectations, since crowns, veneers, and fillings don't change shade the way natural enamel does. Once you've completed treatment, our Shop page also offers take-home maintenance products — including whitening pens and 14-day strips — to help you keep your results looking fresh between visits.

Whitening works best on healthy, cavity-free teeth, so we typically recommend completing a routine cleaning and exam first — this also removes surface stains from coffee, tea, or tobacco that can make results look uneven. Some mild, temporary tooth sensitivity is normal for a day or two after treatment and usually resolves on its own. If you're preparing for a wedding, reunion, or other big event, we recommend scheduling in-office whitening about one to two weeks beforehand so your smile looks its brightest right on time.

Common Questions

Teeth Whitening FAQs

How much whiter will my teeth get?

Results vary by patient and starting shade, but most people see their teeth brighten by several shades after a single in-office session, with take-home trays producing similar results gradually over one to two weeks.

Is professional teeth whitening safe?

Yes. We evaluate your enamel, gums, and any existing fillings or crowns before treatment to make sure whitening is right for you, and our professional-strength gels are applied under dentist supervision to minimize sensitivity.

What is the difference between in-office and take-home whitening?

In-office whitening uses a stronger, dentist-applied gel activated for a fast, dramatic result in about an hour. Take-home trays use a professional gel at a lower concentration that you apply yourself over one to two weeks for a more gradual — but still significant — brightening.

Will whitening damage my enamel or cause sensitivity?

Professional whitening performed under dentist supervision does not damage enamel. Some patients experience mild, temporary sensitivity during treatment, which we manage with desensitizing gel and can adjust based on your comfort.

How long do whitening results last?

With good oral hygiene and limited exposure to staining foods and drinks like coffee, red wine, and tobacco, results typically last six months to two years. Our take-home trays double as convenient touch-up kits to maintain your results, and we also carry whitening pens and strips in our Shop for easy maintenance between visits.
