The Gold Standard in Tooth Replacement

Single Implants, Bridges & Implant-Supported Dentures

A missing tooth is more than a cosmetic concern — it can shift your bite, strain neighboring teeth, and gradually cause the jawbone beneath it to shrink. Dental implants solve the problem at its root, literally. A small titanium post is placed into the jawbone, where it fuses with the bone over several months in a process called osseointegration, creating a stable foundation as strong as a natural tooth root.

For a single missing tooth, we place one implant post topped with a custom, shade-matched crown that blends in seamlessly with the teeth around it. When several teeth in a row are missing, an implant-supported bridge anchors a span of replacement teeth to two or more implants, avoiding the need to grind down healthy adjacent teeth the way a traditional bridge would. For patients missing most or all of their teeth in an arch, implant-supported dentures snap securely onto a small number of implants, eliminating the slipping, clicking, and discomfort common with removable dentures.

Treatment typically begins with a consultation and 3D imaging to evaluate your jawbone and plan exact implant placement. Placement surgery itself is performed comfortably under local anesthesia, followed by a healing period of three to six months while the implant integrates with your bone. Once healed, we attach your custom crown, bridge, or denture, completing the restoration.

Dr. Michael Osei, who leads our Temecula office, completed advanced hospital-based training in implant surgery and restorative dentistry and oversees implant treatment planning across all three of our locations. If you're missing one tooth or several, we'll walk you through exactly which implant option fits your needs, timeline, and budget.

Candidacy for implants depends mainly on having healthy gums and enough jawbone to support the post; patients who have lost bone density from long-term tooth loss can often still qualify after a bone graft to rebuild the area. We also evaluate factors like uncontrolled diabetes or heavy smoking, which can affect healing, and work with you to manage them before surgery when possible. Because implants don't decay the way natural teeth can, they typically require nothing more than the same brushing, flossing, and regular checkups you'd use to care for the rest of your smile.

Common Questions

Dental Implant FAQs

How long do dental implants last?

With proper care, the titanium implant post can last a lifetime, and the crown on top typically lasts 15 to 20 years or more before it may need replacement due to normal wear. Implants are the longest-lasting tooth replacement option we offer.

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

Most healthy adults with adequate jawbone density are good candidates. During your consultation, we evaluate your bone structure with digital imaging, review your medical history, and check for gum disease, since these factors affect implant success. Patients with insufficient bone may still qualify after a bone graft.

Does insurance cover dental implants?

Coverage varies widely by plan. Many dental insurance policies cover a portion of the crown or restorative component, while the implant post itself may be classified differently. Our team will review your specific benefits and discuss financing options, including CareCredit, to help make treatment affordable.

What is the recovery time after implant surgery?

Most patients return to normal activities within a few days, with mild soreness managed by over-the-counter pain relief. Full fusion between the implant and jawbone, called osseointegration, takes three to six months before the permanent crown is attached, though this healing period is virtually painless.

Can implants replace more than one missing tooth?

Yes. In addition to single-tooth implants, we place implant-supported bridges to replace several teeth in a row and implant-supported dentures that anchor a full arch of replacement teeth securely in place, eliminating the slipping and discomfort common with traditional dentures.
